О чем говорит опыт стран, осмелившихся выращивать ГМО

Ежегодно Международной служба оценки применения агробиотехнологий (ISAAA), которая занимается продвижением биотехнологических культур, выпускает отчет о глобальном статусе одобренных ГМ растений. В юбилейном выпуске организация исследовала, кто и где выращивал трансгенные растения и что из этого вышло.

К ГМО по-прежнему относятся с опаской, особенно в кругах, далеких от науки. Между тем отчет свидетельствует, что страны, осмелившиеся начать выращивать ГМО, уже получили немало выгод, в числе которых борьба с бедностью и голодом, повышение урожайности, рост доходов и создание более безопасной окружающей среды благодаря сокращению использования пестицидов и других агрохимикатов. Всего таких стран 28, из них 20 развивающихся и 8 развитых.
